NorthCoast is located in Bristol, Rhode Island, adjacent to Narragansett Bay and the rich fishing grounds of Rhode Island Sound.

Having been and remaining the behind-the-scenes producer of hulls and other components for other premier brands, NorthCoast now builds its own lines of cabin/pilothouse and center-console boats, the latter of 19 and 23 feet, and the former from 23 to a massive new 46-footer, including bracket and engines. That boat, the NorthCoast 415HT featured here, won Boating magazine’s 2024 Boat of the Year in the Large Fishing Boat category.

NorthCoast 415HT

As NorthCoast’s new flagship, the 415HT is an inch over 46 feet in length overall and powered by quad Yamaha F300 outboards with Helm Master EX joystick control to get you to the fishing grounds first, or back to port when the weather sours.

Built in partnership with respected yacht-design firm Langan Design Partners, the new NorthCoast deep-V pilothouse boat exudes proud New England lines.

Board through a portside or transom door into a 102-square-foot fishing-machine cockpit. (A cruising-style cockpit is an option.) Twin in-deck macerated fish boxes store 75 gallons each. A pair of illuminated 29-gallon transom baitwells stand ready, and rod and cup holders abound.

An aft-facing seat atop a 27-gallon cooler adjoins the aft full bulkhead with bifold windows and locking door. Within the open-layout pilothouse are a starboard-side tackle and gear station, a settee to port, and a full galley to starboard.

The helm features Release double helm seats. Raymarine’s YachtSense digital switching system complements the Raymarine electronics suite of twin 19-inch MFDs, radar, FLIR marine camera and a second camera, augmented-reality navigation, transducers, sonar, VHF radio, and AIS.

Below, the mahogany-appointed cabin offers comfortable seating and a full-featured enclosed head compartment. The master stateroom has a walk-around queen berth, part of a six-adult sleeping capacity. A large screened hatch—one of four port lights—provides light and fresh air.

Additional standard features include a Seakeeper 4 gyrostabilizer, a bow thruster, a diesel generator, air conditioning, and automatic trim tabs.

Notable options include cockpit seating and table, a six-rod rocket launcher/battle station, outriggers, and EVA nonskid decking.

Editor’s Note

Based on a proven hull and fully functional angling layout, the NorthCoast 415HT hits all of the marks when it comes to top-notch saltwater fishing features, as well as comfort and protection for a large crew when foul weather closes in. -Karl Anderson

Rhode Island-based NorthCoast Boats, a division of C&C Marine and C&C Fiberglass, is owned and presided over by Jose C. DaPonte, who has been involved in boatbuilding since the early 1970s.

In 2000, struck by the “stout lines and excellent performance” of NorthCoast boats, DaPonte bought its brand and hull molds, the company says.

NorthCoast’s boats—four cabin models and six center-consoles—have reverse chines for stability, and aggressive longitudinal strakes for additional lift, great tracking, fuel economy, handling and overall performance.

NorthCoast 255 HT

NorthCoast says fans of its 235 Cabin asked for a big bigger boat, with a private head and comfortable accommodations for two. Add a longer and wider cockpit—with cockpit space being the top consideration of 84 percent of walkaround survey respondents—and a fish-welcoming walk-through transom door, and you’ve got the hardtop 255 Cabin.

The company says the 255’s 22-degree deadrise equips it to run soft and dry at up to 60 mph with optional twin 250s.

The 255 has a 26-gallon transom livewell, a 105-quart transom storage box, and two tackle-storage bins. Four stainless-steel gunwale-mounted rod holders meet requirements of 37 percent of walkaround survey respondents; more rod holders are available as options.
